1. Prepare materials
Flour: Choose low-gluten flour or medium-gluten flour. According to your taste, you can add an appropriate amount of whole wheat flour or multi-grain flour to increase nutrition and taste.
Sugar: Add an appropriate amount of sugar according to your personal taste, or use healthy sugar substitutes such as maple syrup, honey, etc.
Milk or plant milk: Choose low-fat milk or plant milk (such as almond milk, soy milk) as the liquid ingredient, which is both healthy and delicious.
Eggs: Provide protein and increase the softness of waffles.
Butter or vegetable oil: Use room temperature softened butter or healthy vegetable oil (such as olive oil, linseed oil) as the oil component to make the waffles more crispy.
Baking powder or baking soda: As a leavening agent, it makes the waffles expand and soften during baking.
Salt: A little salt can enhance the overall flavor.
Vanilla extract or lemon zest (optional): Add flavor and aroma.
2. Make the batter
Mix the dry ingredients: Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder (or baking soda), and salt in a large bowl.
Mix the wet ingredients: In another bowl, beat the eggs and add milk or vegetable milk, melted butter or vegetable oil, and vanilla extract or lemon zest (if using) and mix well.
Combine the wet and dry ingredients: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients bowl and stir with a whisk or chopsticks until there is no dry powder, but avoid over-stirring to prevent the batter from becoming glutenous.
3. Preheat the waffle maker
Clean and preheat: Make sure the Double insulated eco-friendly waffle maker is clean before use and preheat to the appropriate temperature according to the instructions.
Apply grease: Apply a thin layer of butter or vegetable oil on the preheated waffle maker mold to prevent sticking.
4. Make waffles
Pour the batter: Pour an appropriate amount of batter into the preheated waffle maker mold, usually about 2/3 full of batter per mold.
Baking: Cover the lid of the waffle maker and bake according to the time in the manual. Usually, the baking time is about 3-5 minutes, depending on the model of the waffle maker and the consistency of the batter.
Check the doneness: After baking, open the lid of the waffle maker and insert a toothpick into the center of the waffle to check whether it is cooked. If there is no batter on the toothpick, it means that the waffle is cooked.
5. Enjoy the waffles
Cooling: Take out the baked waffles and place them on the baking net to cool slightly for a few minutes.
Decoration and matching: According to personal taste, you can spread jam, honey, maple syrup, etc. on the waffles, or eat them with fresh fruits, ice cream, whipped cream, etc.
6. Notes
Batter consistency: The consistency of the batter will affect the taste and shape of the waffles. If the batter is too thin, the waffles may not be formed; if the batter is too thick, it may taste hard. Therefore, you need to pay attention to the moderate consistency when stirring the batter.
Baking time: The baking time needs to be adjusted according to the model of the waffle maker and the consistency of the batter. Baking time that is too long may cause the waffles to be too dry and hard; baking time that is too short may cause the waffles to be undercooked.
Temperature control: During the baking process, you need to pay attention to the temperature control of the waffle maker. If the temperature is too high, the surface of the waffle may be burnt; if the temperature is too low, the waffles may not be cooked through.
